Our understanding of the process by which human
populations entered the Americas has been greatly enhanced by the
analysis of genetic variation in Siberian and Native American
populations. This presentation will review the DNA evidence from
these populations in the context of the debates about the origins of
the First Americans, and discuss the emerging colonization model
which suggest there was an early (>15,000 ybp) and coastal migration
to the New World.
